Methodologies

“What we observe is not nature itself, but nature exposed to our method of questioning.”

Werner Heisenberg

Reflective Inquiry

The famous philosopher and psychologist, John Dewey said that the most intelligent people need the most help thinking about their thinking. Reflective inquiry is a powerful coaching technique that helps people understand what they are thinking and saying. Follow up questions on our mind processes prompt a shift in awareness that then provides solutions to problems and propels us to new actions. My focus is on coaching the person, not the problem, thus provoking the insights and resourcefulness that you already have within. I like to think of myself as an effective thinking partner, getting you to untangle your mental reasoning to more easily achieve your goals.

Mindset and Sabotaging Thoughts

Our minds are constantly sabotaging our potential for both optimal performance and happiness. These saboteurs, or the voices in our head that often hold us back, activate negative emotions such as stress, anxiety, blame, shame, regret, or self-doubt, impacting how we handle our everyday challenges. Building awareness of our saboteurs helps us discredit their fear-based lies and limiting beliefs, while empowering us to serve our values or internal truths instead.

Strengths-Based Approach

The Gallup organization has conducted worldwide research, concluding that working professionals are only using their strengths or natural talents 20% of the time. While it’s important to become aware of our shortcomings, it’s crucial to understand, develop, and apply our strengths towards achieving our goals. Shifting our focus to our strengths can give us a better leverage of our efforts, making it easier to attain peak performance, address our stressors, and achieve sustained happiness.

Mental Fitness

Mental Fitness is our ability to respond to life’s challenges with a more positive mindset and less stress, allowing for improved mental resilience and personal growth over time. Using a state-of-the-art Positive Intelligence (PQ) program, we learn to grow our 3 core mental muscles that maximize both performance and wellbeing, while improving 17 of the 18 Emotional Intelligence (EQ) competencies. This includes applying powerful mindfulness techniques to grow our self-command muscle so we can take back the reins over our thoughts and emotions, and redirect them toward a more productive end goal.
